Sawyer Memorial Day Bash 2005

After painting the house for two weeks, praying that my weed control company can get my yard to look better, building a playset and preparing the house for guests the Memorial Day Bash went off without a hitch. This year was the first in a couple of years that we did not put flyers out or advertised the party. We decided to let word of mouth and reputation fill the yard with guests. It worked!!!

We invited the Young Families, Young Marrieds, and Newlyweds classes from our church. In addition we invited the ministers and their families. The Newlyweds and ministers no showed. Good thing too. If David Duncan had shown we would've run out of food. Plus if Randy Roper attended he would've been embarrassed at the volleyball court by yours truly...but I digress...

Before I release the stats I would like to thank Sgt. Will Harris and his family for attending the Bash. For those of you who did not attend, Will returned from Iraq in March and shared his thoughts on Memorial Day. It was quite moving. I also want to thank all of you who brought food and made the party GREAT!!! Special thanks to "WHAT UP GEE!!!" Chris Gee for cutting the front lawn for me.

Raiden Sees EPIII

Friday for my birthday, I took Raiden to see Star Wars Episode III. Needless to say he was so excited he could barely stand it. We arrived at the theater 50 minutes before the movie started and we were the first to sit. We played games on my cell phone, which Raiden creamed me in one game in particular, and we waited...waited....waited...until...

The music started for Star Wars to begin and Raiden started JUMPING in his seat. It was hilarious. 2 hours and 26 minutes later Raiden stood up and said, "That was sweet." Then on the way home we discussed our favorite funny moments and favorite action scenes.

It was great!
